No guarantees for Poachers

POACHERS may be on top of the Corangamite Volleyball ladder with one round to go, but they are not assured of staying there.

By wd-news

They will face the second-placed Bulls in their last match of the season, with the winner set to claim minor premiership honours.

Round seven again produced competitive volleyball and the Poachers were involved in all of it.

With Bailey Clarke back in the team, Freeballers took it right up to Poachers and forced them to pull out all stops.

The NOBTS v Poachers clash was ‘one for the ages’ with long rallies and event a bit of ‘needle’ between players as both sides gave it 100 per cent.

NOBTS won the first set but the second game eventually fell to Poachers who continued their momentum in the third.

The other interesting aspect of the last round will be Ballbusters’ opportunity to overtake NOBTS and claim third spot.

Their destiny is in their own hands because they play them in the first match of the night.

Results from round seven:

Ballbusters def Cowgirls 3-0, NOBTS def Freeballers 3-0, Bulls def Ballbusters 3-1, Bulls def Cowgirls 3-0, Poachers def Freeballers 2-1 and Poachers def NOBTS 2-1.

Ladder after November 19 – Poachers 46, Bulls 44, NOBTS 30, Ballbusters 28, Freeballers 12, Cowgirls 8.
