NOBTS down to earth

AFTER strong performances in round two, NOBTS was brought back down to earth with a thud in round three.

The Corangamite Volleyball’s Spring competition is proving an interesting one after just two three rounds.

NOBTS had two unconvincing losses, to Cowgirls and Ballbusters, in round three and now sits in fourth place.

In contrast, after struggling the previous week, Poachers this week produced two winning performances against top team Bulls and lowly Cowgirls.

The Poachers-Bulls clash was a see-sawing match between two well-matched sides with different strengths.

After Poachers won the first set, the Bulls equalled in the second before losing 15-11 in the third – with one rally estimated at 30 shots.

Ballbusters’ fine form sees them in third place on the ladder which is a good reward for their improvement over the past weeks.

Freeballers and NOBTS were the two victims of the busters in round three.

After three weeks, inconsistency is the overwhelming theme of this volleyball season.

Results from round three:

Cowgirls def NOBTS 3-0, Ballbusters def Freeballers 3-0, Poachers def Bulls 2-1, Ballbusters def NOBTS 3-0, Bulls def Freeballers 3-0, Poachers def Cowgirls 4-0.

Ladder after October 22: Bulls 18, Poachers 16, Ballbusters 14, NOBTS 12, Freebalers 8, Cowgirls 4.
