Works begin: Noogee Road is set for a facelift as part of works which total almost one million dollars thanks to Federal Government investment.

Works have begun to widen Noogee Road, which runs between the Princes Highway and Terang-Framlingham Road as a major turnoff leading to Terang Racecourse.

Corangamite Shire Council manager John Kelly said the project was one of the key initiatives in the “quality infrastructure and community connections” strategic objective of the Council Plan 2025-2029.

“Noogee Road is currently a narrow 3.9 metre sealed road connecting Terang-Framlingham Road in the north to the Princes Highway in the south on the west side of Terang,” he said.

“It was identified from our road condition assessments that the road required rehabilitation.

“In addition to the rehab works, we propose to widen Noogee Road to a 6.2 m sealed road to make it safer for two-way traffic.”

The work had received a budget of $971,000 thanks to federal funding.

“The project is fully funded by the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery program,” Mr Kelly said.

Works started last Tuesday, February 10, and are expected to be completed in about six weeks, depending on weather conditions and any circumstances beyond council’s control.

Speed reduction will be in place during these works and delays are to be expected.
