NOORAT Primary School students showcased their school to some of the most important people in their lives last week.

The school’s Grandparents and Special Friends Day returned last Thursday.

Principal Ilona Watkins said embracing school-family-student relationships meant “everything” to a strong education.

“When we welcome a student to Noorat Primary School, we welcome the whole family into our community,” she said.

“Our students are proud of their school, and we want them to have the opportunity to showcase their learning environment to their most loved ones.

“It’s lovely to be able to welcome the special people in our students’ lives into our school.”

Students shared a lunch with their loved ones and opened their literary horizons at the school’s Book Fair before heading out to play while the special visitors enjoyed a cuppa and fresh scones provided by the Parents and Friends Association.

“After lunch, students completed a range of activities and games with their special people before an assembly where our students showcased their AUSLAN skills; signing their names, singing the

‘ABC song’ and colours,” Ms Watkins said.

“School and teaching/learning approaches have changed a lot, so it provides the opportunity for families to see how we teach and how students learn.

“It was another wonderful experience to welcome back our students’ special people into our school and celebrate the work our students have achieved so far this year.”
