Oil spilled in Simpson
MEMBERS of the Simpson community have been asked to keep an eye out after oil was illegally discarded on the side of the road.

A Simpson resident noticed the oil patch on the side of Williams Road, around five kilometres out of Simpson, during their commute recently.
It was estimated around 10-litres of oil had been spilled, however the resident who had discovered the oil said they believe it had been illegally dumped in a bid to avoid proper disposal measures.
A Corangamite Shire Council spokesperson said the spill had been treated.
“A community member contacted council and the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority about an oil spill which they found off Williams Road, about five kilometres outside Simpson,” the spokesperson said.
“Council’s Works Team attended and treated the small spill of about 10-litres with sand.
“This information has been passed on to Environment Protection Authority (EPA).
“Any hazardous spills can be reported to emergency services and the EPA.”
Anyone who notices illegally dumped materials was urged to contact the EPA or call the 24-hour pollution hotline on 1300 372 842.
