Congratulations: Olympic gold medalist Grace Brown OAM was among those named on the Australia Day Honours List.

Ms Brown OAM was listed among 457 Australians who were recognised for their service to their fields as part of the General Division of the Order of Australia.

She won gold in the women’s cycling individual time trial at last year’s Paris Olympics and was also a member of the Australian cycling team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ms Brown said it was a “great honour” to be recognised.

“There’s people in our country who have done amazing things receive this award – to have my name next to them is really an honour and something that I’m proud of,” she said.

“I found out around a month before – it’s hard to know exactly now.

“I knew the Australian Olympic Committee had nominated me for an OAM because of my gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

“I think it’s a really nice recognition of what that means to Australia to get this award alongside my achievements at the Olympics last year.”

Ms Brown is also a gold medalist of the women’s cycling individual time trials at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

She also won the women’s cycling individual time trial world championship in Zurich last year.

Ms Brown said she was grateful for the support received from her hometown of Camperdown.

“To the western district, a big thank you for their support in my sporting career over the past few years,” she said.

“It’s meant a lot, and I’m really proud to represent that part of our state.”
