Onaya set for Music Camp
A STUDENT from Camperdown College’s senior campus will be packing her bags for a special music camp next year.

Onaya Senarath won a place at the Geelong Summer Music Camp, which will see her travel to Geelong for five days of rehearsals at Geelong’s Costa Hall before performing a final concert with other music students from across the region on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Onaya said she was thrilled to learn she had won a place at the camp, with registrations for most sections having already closed.
“I feel really happy, and I’m excited to learn new things and meet new people who play instruments like me,” she said.
“I’ve been playing the violin since halfway through Year Two.
“We played a piece and after we had a small assembly in a church hall in Noorat, they told us who won, and I was named.
“I’m most looking forward to meeting new people, learning new things and being able to play with a bigger group of stringed instrument players.”
Instrumental music teacher Fiona Pugh said Onaya’s placement followed her being named as runner-up for the Jean Wood Memorial Musical Scholarship in October.
Congratulations to violin student Onaya, who has won a place at the Geelong Summer Music Camp in January,” she said.
“Onaya played two pieces and was interviewed by a panel at the recent 2025 Jean Wood Music Awards.
“The award is named in honour of Jean Wood, a former Terang and district music teacher and is held every October for local music students who have learnt a musical instrument for two years or more.
