Open milestone for Finch
COBDEN netballer Emily Finch has played her 150th open Hampden League game.
COBDEN netballer Emily Finch has played her 150th open Hampden League game.
The talented midcourter reached the milestone when she lined up for the Bombers against Warrnambool last Saturday afternoon.
Emily began her Hampden netball career at Camperdown, debuting in its open team in 2013 at the age of 16.
Over the following four years Emily played 88 games for the Magpies before crossing to Cobden in 2018.
“Emily was exactly what we needed; she provided us with attacking firepower and strengthened our open squad,” senior coach Sophie Hinkley said.
Emily is what many describe as the ultimate goal shooter.
She’s strong, tall and accurate in the circle – and is a fierce competitor who works tirelessly to gain possession and makes her defenders pay once she receives within the goal circle.
“Em is the cornerstone of our team, contributing to our big score lines and wins,” Hinkley said
Off the court each year Em takes on a team manager or primary carer role for one of the Bombers’ teams and is well known for her great sideline support.
“She has grown so much as a netballer this season and we’re very proud of her achievements and congratulate her on such a wonderful milestone,” Hinkley said.
“She’s such a strong option for us under the post and is always reliable. A great all-round club person who we’re very lucky to have with us at the Bombers.”
