Ms Wilson visited the region on Sunday, March 15 to attend a party fundraiser in Warrnambool.

During the visit she visited a number of local businesses, community groups and representatives of local government.

Mayor councillor Jordan Lockett, deputy mayor councillor Myra Murrihy, councillor Jim Doukas and chief executive officer Mark Eversteyn met with Ms Wilson and Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell to discuss a range of local issues which impact the shire.

Cr Lockett said the meeting was a great opportunity to talk about key topics on behalf of the community.

“We highlighted the importance of maintaining and upgrading our region’s road network,” he said.

“Our roads are absolutely critical to support agriculture, freight and road safety for everyone who uses them.

“We know that roads are the number one issue for our residents, farmers and businesses and we will strongly advocate for significantly more funding in the lead up to the Victorian parliament November 2026 state election.

“During our discussion we also raised the condition and future needs of public swimming pool infrastructure funding support across the shire.

“The high level of feedback we received to the survey on our aquatic facilities strategy showed this is a concern for all pool users in Moyne.”

Council is currently developing a focused advocacy program ahead of the election.

These priorities will be released in the coming months as the campaign progresses.
