Over 60s perform well

SOUTH West Vets’ Over 60s cricket side enjoyed a competitive game against St. Bernards last weekend.

The team travelled to Essendon for Sunday’s game and enjoyed playing on an ideal pitch.

In a competitive match St.Bernards won 5/209 to 6/170.

Wicket takers for South West were Adrian Bignell (1/43 off five), Tony Evans (1/18 off seven), Bernie Drake (1/24 off five) and Graeme Fischer (1/5 off one).

There was one run out and catches were taken by Leigh Graham, Tony Evans and Don Pyke.

With the bat both Leigh Graham and Ross Mcillveen retired on 42 and Bernie Drake was unbeaten on 15.

Other contributors at the crease were Tony Evans who made 18, Wes Bramwell (3), Don Pyke (8), Andy Lamont (9), Graeme Fischer (11) and Adrian Bignell (12).

The team also had a great social afternoon after the game.

Unfortunately, Jock O'Connor and Peter Dickson were unavailable on the weekend.
