Six Country Fire Authority (CFA) tankers were called to a grassfire on the Darlington-Camperdown Road in Bookaar at around 3.20pm on Thursday, March 13.

CFA District 6 assistant chief fire officer Craig Brittain said the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, with crews remaining on scene to ensure the fire was fully out.

“There were only around 10 acres burnt, and there is no indication of what actually caused it,” he said.

“The community needs to be reminded of the high-risk conditions we have currently, and the dryness of the fuel around our district.”
