Pair fundraise in memory of cousin
TWO young Timboon locals are hoping to raise funds as a tribute to their cousin who died from leukaemia last year.
On Saturday, both Menzel Cook and his younger brother Nelson are completing their respective fundraisers at the Timboon pool.
Menzel has taken on the challenge of swimming eight kilometres as part of the Starlight Super Swim and Nelson will shave his mullet with funds going to the Children’s Cancer Institute.
Mother Sarah Cook said she was proud of the boy’s efforts.
“They are doing really well; they have raised about $800 each so far,” she said.
“Their cousin, Henry, passed away in April last year after a short battle with leukaemia and a few complications.
“The boys are hoping to raise some money for things that were important to Henry.”
Mrs Cook said the fundraisers would kick off at the Timboon Pool on Saturday from 11am.
“We’ve got family and friends coming to support them,” she said.
