Pairs multiplication at Cobden
TWENTY-four players contested a pairs multiplication (stableford) round at Cobden golf last weekend.
Saturday’s event was won by J. Lucas and N. Moran on 70 points, followed by D. Absalom and C. Sargeant on 57.
Balls down the line went to R. Barlow, C. Dobson, A. Stevens and A. Giles.
Nearest the pins: 4th L. Twynstra, 7th C. Sargeant, 10th G. Campbell, closest second on the 2nd N. Moran and closest on the 14th H. Green.
This Saturday will be a stableford competition.
On Wednesday, July 2 eight brave players rugged up and played a stroke, medal and putting competition.
The winner was Sherine Healey on 75 nett, followed by Julie Simmonds on 78.
The monthly medal winner was Sherine Healey with 89-14-75; she also won the putting with 32 putts.
Nearest the pins: A grade – 4th Ellen Darcy, 10th Di McKenzie; B grade – 4th and 10th Pat Tickner; C grade – 10th Julie Simmonds; 7th Sherine Healey.
Rain and wind deterred players from hitting the course on July 9 while the following week, Wednesday, July 16, eight competitors (using three clubs and a putter) enjoyed a par three course.
The winner was Mark Loving on 39 points, followed by Carmel Darcy on 38.
The longest putt on the first hole went to Ellen Darcy while the second shot on the 4th was won by Pat Tickner and the second on the 9th went to Mark Loving.
The 7th hole was won by Mark Loving while balls down the line went to Jeannine White on 37 points.
