Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day, is traditionally held between February 2 and March 9 to mark the final day before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday – this year sees Shrove Tuesday fall on March 4.

The pancake lunch served by members of the St Anglican’s Church always proves popular, with last year seeing around 80 people enjoying savory and sweet pancakes and conversation.

Organiser Ron Simcox said the church was hoping for people from the wider community to come along between 11.30am and 1.30pm to enjoy some pancakes.

“We’re just hoping for a wider attendance from the community and that the weather will be nice to us,” he said.

“Usually there’s a lot of people – there’s people from Uniting Church, the CWA (Country Women’s Association) and all those different groups.

“We’ve got some people coming from the David Newman Centre as well.

“It’s a good community get-together.

“Come along and enjoy it.”

Tea and coffee will be provided alongside the meal, and attendees will be able to enter a raffle on the day.

Bookings are not required to attend the lunch, but residents are asked to pay $10 per attendee to go towards covering costs of ingredients.
