Pancake lunch proves popular
ST Paul’s Anglican Church Hall filled with conversation and tasty food on Tuesday for the annual Shrove Tuesday community pancake lunch.

The lunch saw over 80 people from across the area enjoying sweet and savoury pancakes with a variety of toppings to choose from.
Organiser Ron Simcox said the lunch proved “heart-warming and enlightening”.
“We had people come from Cooinda, which we didn’t expect, as well as from the David Newman Centre,” he said.
“We also had people from the Camperdown Uniting Church and the St Patrick’s Catholic Church.
“There were even people who came in off the street.
“Some members of the Camperdown Bowls Club came in as well – because of the Total Fire Ban, they were unable to play bowls, so they came along.
“We had a variety of desserts and they all went well because many attendees had a savoury pancake first and then a dessert.”
A raffle ran alongside the meal, as well as a display of crockery such as glasses, cutlery and teapots.
Mr Simcox said the lunch saw more people than last year’s event.
He thanked all the church volunteers who worked alongside him to cook the pancakes and serve attendees.
“It was completely a team effort,” he said.
