Paws to hit the pavement
A WOMAN and her dog will be picking up the leash throughout June to raise funds for research into cancer.

Georgia Meade of Camperdown Boarding Kennels and Pet Services will be walking her dog Leo throughout the town as part of the Dog Walk for Cancer.
Dog Walk for Cancer is a fundraising effort through Cancer Council, encouraging dog owners to take their furry friend for extra walks in the month of June to raise funds.
Mrs Meade said she was already hoping to raise as much money as she could for the cause.
“I’ve wanted to do something for a long time – both my family and my husband’s family were hit pretty hard with cancer last year,” she said.
“I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I saw the Dog Walk for Cancer and thought it was a perfect opportunity.
“It’s a 50-kilometre walk, but we are going to try and do 100 kilometres.
“Leo loves coming on walks.
“He loves going into town and going for a walk.”
Mrs Meade encouraged residents to give what they could for the cause.
“It’s for a really good cause – it’s for all the cancers through the Victorian Cancer Council,” she said.
“A little bit goes a long way.
“I’m mostly doing it to raise awareness and do my bit.”
At the time of publication, Mrs Meade has raised $506.24 with the walking challenge due to begin soon.
