Carol Eagle, Merrian Dennis, Monique Pope and Daniel ‘Dannie’ Dupleix will open the doors of the Peacock Hall on Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17 to display their artworks.

Ms Eagle said the group collectively decided to hold an open studio to showcase their works to the community, with their workspace hidden behind the St Paul’s Church hall at 13 Church Street.

“We meet on Mondays, we inspire each other and toss around ideas,” she said.

“This year, we’re taking it into the garden because we’ve got a beautiful garden here, so people can look at art in the garden and appreciate the garden too.

“It’s just a very inspirational, very lovely space to be on a Monday.

“Usually we get a lot of people popping in over the weekend to see what we’re doing because we’re tucked away, and we just do our work – it’s nice to share that.

“The Peacock Hall is a bit like a sanctuary for us.”

The upcoming open studio will be the fourth held by the group, with the artists also having shown their works in various exhibitions in the area.

“Monique does textile art, Merrian’s a fine art person, and I just do a bit of everything - Dannie is a textiles person too,” she said.

“We had an exhibition at The F Project in Warrnambool this year, which went really well.

“It was called Vessels, and we all did our own interpretation of what a vessel is.

“The nice thing is our art practices are different, and sometimes our ideas are very different, but it’s a safe place where we can appreciate everyone and there’s no animosity.”

The group have also participated in other exhibitions, including the Small Art Treasures in the Gardens at the Colac Botanical Gardens, and CrossXpollinatioN exhibition held by the Colac Otway Performing Arts and Cultural Centre (COPACC).

Ms Eagle said the free event will showcase both two- and three- dimensional works, with many works for sale as well as purely display items.

“Everywhere you look there’ll be stuff – good stuff, fun stuff and inspirational stuff,” she said.

“There’ll be plinths going out to the garden with works on them.

“We’ll have artwork on the verandah too.

“I hope they’ll all be gob smacked by what we’ve managed to do this year.

“I think it’ll be extremely visual and tactile.”

The open studio will run from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, and Sunday, November 17.
