Pelicans lead division one

A QUICK firing century by Bookaar opener Eddie Lucas last weekend sees the Pelicans on top of the South West division one ladder heading in to the Christmas break.

Lucas chalked up an impressive 117 from 124 deliveries against Cobden on Saturday, in an innings that included 12 boundaries and two sixes.

He was well supported on the scoreboard by team-mate Albie Cheeseman (44) before the Pelicans finished the day on 5/206 in the 48th over.

Earlier, the Knights won the toss and elected to bat, with opener Matthew Boyle out lbw on one before Jonty Robertson was dismissed on 10 and Matthew Kemp for 8.

Knights captain Johno Benallack led the run scorers with 46, followed by Kaplan McCann on 38 and Campbell Walsh 23 (with Parker Walsh unbeaten on 23).

Parker Walsh was effective with the ball for the Knights, taking 3-39 from his nine overs while for Bookaar, Charlie Lucas 3-41 and Lois Darcy 3-50 were both effective.

In other South West division one games last weekend, Boorcan 10/192 (Max Moor 62, William Owen 3/38) defeated Ecklin 10/151 (Sam Bushell 26, Jamie Dewell 3/27).

Pomborneit 10/180 (Lahiru Fernando 58 and 3/30), took the win over Heytesbury Storm 10/42 (Matthew Love 57, Thomas Hunt 4/39).

Camperdown 10/224 (Noah Riches 74, Jye McLaughlin 4/17) were big winners over Woorndoo 9/148 (Thomas Gray 41, Jacob Gray 4/39).

The division one ladder to date sees Bookaar at the top of the table, followed by Heytesbury Storm, Pomborneit, Boorcan, Cobden, Camperdown, Ecklin and Woorndoo.

After the break, the season will recommence with one-day matches on Saturday, January 18.
