Pelicans look to round 2
BOOKAAR'S cricketers had a tough initiation in round one of the new Colac-South West premier division one competition, with a 122 run loss to City United last Saturday.

City won the toss and elected to bat at the Elliminyt Recreation Reserve, and after an early wicket and a slow start piled on the runs, making 5/246 from their 50 overs.
"They played a pretty unconventional game compared to what we are used to in the South West competition" Bookaar captain Lachie Green said.
"They were slow at the start during the powerplay, making 33 from 10 overs before then kicking into gear."
Green praised the batting of City pair Dylan Slater and Nathan McNamara, who made 57 and 97 not out respectively.
"Slater is a really good bat, you can see he's played a high level of cricket.
"McNamara didn't give a chance until he was 90, he batted well too."
Bookaar had four single wicket takers, with Green saying their bowling was an area to improve on.
"Our bowling was pretty so so, we'll get better in that regard, there was a bit of rust."
The Bookaar skipper backed his batsmen in for the run chase.
"We were confident in chasing, we have a good record chasing those kind of scores.
"They bowled well, we lost regular wickets and were then under pressure."
Several Pelicans made starts, with Eddie Lucas scoring 18, Paddy Baker scoring 22, Fraser Lucas 25 and Wilba Cheeseman 17 as the visitors were bowled out for 124 in the 30th over.
"Paddy hit the ball well and played how we want him to in the powerplay.
"We had a few starts but didn't go on with a combination of good bowling and poor shot selection."
Despite the loss, Green said it was an enjoyable day of cricket.
"It was a brilliant ground to play on for round one, in great condition and fast.
"It was really good talking cricket with new opponents, even though we lost it was a very enjoyable day."
This week Bookaar face Heytesbury-Princetown at Timboon, with the division two Pelicans starting their season against Boorcan at Boorcan.
