PENNY Smith’s Olympic dream has finally come true.

The Bookaar clay target shooter is set to represent Australia at the 2020 Toyko Olympics, with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) announcing her selection last Friday.

She was one of 15 members announced on the shooting team, with Smith set to be one of seven debutants at the games.

The 25 year-old said she was “thrilled” to secure a berth following a sharp rise in the sport and will follow in the footsteps of her mum Kim who was a groom for equestrian rider Andrew Hoy at the 1984 Olympics.

“It been a childhood dream to make the Olympic Games,” Smith said.

“It’s something I’ve been working towards, I never thought it would be in shooting but you never know where sport is going to lead you.
