WOORNDOO Mortlake celebrated its return to the winners list last weekend with a percentage boosting 239-point win over the Pumas.

Reeling from a round six defeat at the hands of top-side Tatyoon, the Tigers were keen to get a fifth win under their belts in front of a home crowd at Woorndoo on Saturday.

Final scores were Woorndoo Mortlake 38.29.257 to Moyston Willaura 2.6.18.

Best for the Tigers were Jesse Horan, William Paulin, William Templeton, James Coghlan West, Jack Spokes and Tyson Osborne.

Horan booted 18 goals for the Tigers and was well supported on the board by James Coghlan West, Tyson Osborne and Damien Pemberton with four each, Jack Osborne and Jack Spokes with two each, and singles from Issac Fowler, Jesse Johnson, Will Paulin and Will Templeton.

The Tigers’ reserves made it seven from seven last weekend, holding on to top spot on the Mininera League ladder and now a game clear of second-placed Ararat.

Final scores were Woorndoo Mortlake 30.13.193 to Moyston Willaura 2.6.18.

Justin Snow, Wayne Loader, Tom Carmichael, Brody Mifsud, Geordie MacDonald and Bryce Meekes were named best for the Tigers.

Loader kicked 10 goals while Bryce Meekes added five, Charles Kenny three and Snow two, with singles from Carmichael, Xavier Glossop, Pete Harris and Brody Mifsud.

Woorndoo Mortlake will travel to Great Western this weekend to take on the fifth-placed Lions.

The Tigers’ netballers are also travelling well this season, with all three senior and three junior teams currently sitting in the top five of their respective ladders.

Results from last weekend’s matches against Moyston Willaura were as follows:

A grade – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Moyston Willaura 84-8. Best on court: Georgia McCormick and Sarah Cameron.

B grade – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Moyston Willaura 60-13. Best players: Shona Makepeace and Tasha Killen.

C grade – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Moyston Willaura 27-5. Best for the Tigers: Lily Burford and Melanie Dyson.

18 and under – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Moyston Willaura 42-16. Letitia Howat was named best for the Tigers.

15 and under – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Moyston Willaura 20-19.

13 and under – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Moyston Willaura 35-5. Best for the Tigers: Indi Wardlaw.
