Percentage booster for Demons

A RUTHLESS Lismore/Derrinallum kept Great Western scoreless in a 149-point round 13 senior football demolition at Great Western last Saturday.

The Demons came out strongly and never let up in the 22.17.149 to no score win despite the miserable weather.

“We had tough conditions to play in, we needed to turn up with the right mindset,” Lismore/Derrinallum coach Alec Wiltshire said.

“We came with the right attitude and it really showed.”

Forward Jack McCallum was best for the Demons in the win, kicking five goals.

“Jack’s forward pressure was phenomenal,” Wiltshire said.

“Three of his five goals were from run down tackles.”

Max McIntosh and Henry Walsh were also in the best for the Demons.

“It was great to have Max and (brother) Noah back in the team, we put Max in the midfield, his big body was a factor in the conditions.

“Henry took marks all around the ground, for someone who is 208cm he is so good below his knees as well which stood out on a wet ground.”

Consistent performers Blake Scott, Zack Mongelli and Lachie Constable were also in the best for Lismore/Derrinallum.

Constable bagged six goals to take his season tally to 78.

Others to kick multiple goals were Max McIntosh and Blake Scott with three, and Austin Humphrey with two.

“We really did have 21 contributors, everyone played their role,” Wiltshire added.

A massive encounter awaits tomorrow, with the second-placed Demons hosting the third-placed reigning premier Penshurst at Lismore.

“We’re really looking forward to the challenge, it will be a great hitout leading up to the finals,” Wiltshire said.

As well as the massive senior football clash, Lismore/Derrinallum will host its 25-year club reunion of the merger between the former Derrinallum and Lismore clubs, as well as reunions for the 2002 reserves football premiership, the 2015 senior football premiership and the 2005 C grade netball premiership.

Lismore/Derrinallum also managed to keep Great Western scoreless in the reserves game, winning 18.16.124 to 0.0.0.

Tim Turner, Ryan Marquand and Jack Atkins were best for the Demons reserves.

Xavier Coutts kicked five goals, with Tom Parker kicking three and Lachlan Nelson, Ryan Jeffrey and Bradley Schiltz kicking two each.

In the under 16.5s football, Great Western had a 3.12.30 to 3.1.19 win.

Laine Scott, Jake Burleigh and Luke Bond were best for the junior Demons, with Eddie Gellie kicking two goals and Jackson Davies one.

Lismore/Derrinallum had a 44-43 win in the A grade netball.

Hannah Walker and Emily Murray were best for the Demons, with Walker shooting 23 goals and Murray 21.

Great Western got the points in the B grade game with a 46-27 win.

Grace Fisher and Georgia Kerr were the Demons best.

In C grade, Lismore/Derrinallum had a 30-21 win.

Bridgette Filbay shot 18 goals and was best for the Demons along with Ava Stewart.

Lismore/Derrinallum had a 43-14 in the 18 and under netball.

Sophie Fay and Stella Horspole were best for the Demons, with Horspole shooting 38 goals and Neave Thompson five.

Great Western’s 15 and under team scored a 22-4 win.

Best for Lismore/Derrinallum were Georgia Kerr and Maddison Mitchell.

Great Western scored an 18-7 win in the 13 and under netball.

Alexis Henderson scored five goals, with Sophie McConachy and Tessa Trainor best for the under 13 Demons.
