Peter James recently completed the Dream Run, which is run by The Smith Family to raise funds to address education inequality for children living in poverty.

He surpassed the initial goal of walking 200 kilometres around Camperdown, recording a final total of 316 kilometres walked throughout the month of June.

Mr James said he was “extremely happy” with his efforts.

“I didn’t realise I was going to help so many children,” he said.

“I’m just over the moon, absolutely shell-shocked.

“I’d love to thank everyone who donated – all the small amounts, big amounts, whatever amount – I’m just over the moon.”

Mr James fundraising efforts will provide 33 book packs to children to help develop their reading skills, 12 primary school packs for children to ensure they have the resources they need to learn and will sponsor one child for two years of education.

Mr James extended his gratitude to two people who helped him during his walks.

“I’d love to thank my walking colleague Trish Taylor. The amount of times she walked with me was unbelievable – I don’t know how I kept up with her sometimes,” he said.

“She walked with me over half of the month.

“Jessica Brown down at Red Robin, along with Trish, helped me work out all of the finances and put it all into the bank.

“Those two really, really helped me big time.”

Mr James said he is planning on doing the Dream Run again in the future but is simply looking forward to his “next adventure”.
