Pigeons off and racing

THE Camperdown Pigeon Club held its first race of the season last Sunday.

The birds were liberated from Streatham and took to the skies for their 70-kilometre journey to Camperdown.

Both flyers had their pigeons home in under an hour – with Rex Perkins first (velocity 1441.84 m/min) followed by G and S McKenzie (velocity 1409.70 m/mins).

Another race from Streatham is scheduled for next Sunday, with basketing to take place at 4pm Saturday.
