Players battle hot and windy conditions
THE 30th anniversary Astrid Holm Cup was played at Camperdown Golf Club last Friday.
This event, first held in 1993, honours Astrid Holm, a founding member of Camperdown Golf Club and club secretary for 42 years.
Not only was Holm the ladies club champion 15 times between 1950 and 1966, she also enjoyed many other victories at regional and state level throughout her distinguished career.
The 25 teams of four had to battle through hot and windy conditions on Friday playing a 4BBB format with two scores to count.
The winning combination came from Cobden with Nettie Hose, Eveline Boyd, Marie Smith and Jo Hintom scoring 90 points.
The runners-up with 87 points were Cheryl Carroll, Maria O’Rourke, Clare Clarke from East Framlingham with Janet Saunders from Terang.
The Apollo Bay team of Tina Marmo, Diane Alexander, Vicki Phelp and Jo Williamson had the best nine out with 48 points.
The best nine in, with 46 points, was a mixed team anchored by local Liz Fry with Janice Coussens (Ballarat), Leanne Ritchie (Port Fairy) and Larelle McInnes (Lake Bolac).
Nearest the pins: 2nd Judy Myers (Cobden), 9th Pam Clark (East Framlingham), 15th Ros Brauer (Colac) and 17th Glen Dixon (Hamilton).
