Podger Memorial run and won
ON a wet and wintry night in Simpson last weekend, talented Super Rod driver Jamie May showed courage to take out the Trevor Podger Memorial.

The Super Rods’ feature event of the night saw May take the chequered flag ahead of Stan Marco Junior and Shaun Walsh.
A good crowd braved the wintry conditions on Saturday night to cheer on their favourite drivers on what was the second consecutive night of race action at the Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway.
Unfortunately, the heavens opened up prior to the A Main of the 360 sprint cars on Saturday, forcing the remainder of the race meeting to be cancelled.
Spectators were full of praise for track organisers and volunteers, flooding the club’s social pages with compliments in the way the conditions were handled.
Messages such as “the club should be commended on their efforts and dedication; to get the track back after each shower and put on great racing is proof they are a A+++ grade facility,” “congratulations to all the volunteers who put in all the hard work” and “top effort to everyone involved, was a good night considering the circumstances.”
Friday night’s free night at the track saw the running of round three of the AWSR wingless series, with Chris Temby taking the chequered flag ahead of Tyson Martin, with Jason Bates rounding out the podium.
