POMBORNEIT’S under 13 girls’ cricket sides put on an exciting display during Wednesday night’s semi-final clash.

A fantastic crowd at the Pomborneit Recreation Reserve watched Pomborneit Gold play Pomborneit Maroon.

Maroon, who finished third after the regular season, batted first against the second placed Gold team.

Openers Isabelle Pilley, who made 11 from her 12 balls, and Lilli Saarikallio, who made nine from her 12, got the team off to a great start.

Other said contributions came from Imogen Leahy, Elisha Boyd and Pippa Murphy who all made six each from their 12 balls.

Meg Nolan, with 2/4 from two overs and Isla Spokes with 1/11 from two overs the wicket takers for Gold.

An exciting run chase saw the result in doubt until the final ball, with Pomborneit Gold scraping home by four runs.

Elle Mahony and Spokes, both with 11, were the best of the batters, with other contributions coming from Charlotte Richardson with six and five each to Regan Norman, Ella Riches and Zoe Roberts.

Opening bowler Isabelle Pilley was outstanding for Maroon, taking 2/3 from two overs, Elisha Boyd the other wicket taker with 1/9 from her two overs.

The season is over for Pomborneit Maroon, while Pomborneit Gold progress to the grand final to be played on Sunday week against the winner of the other semi-final this Sunday between Colac and Tomahawk Creek.
