RESIDENTS are invited take a close-up look at the regions iconic coastal environment as part of a pop-up event in the main street of Port Campbell this week.

The Twelve Apostles Tourism and Business Group and Port Campbell Visitor Information Centre will showcase the 12 Apostles Visitor Inspiration Project at 23 Lord Street, just next to the service station.

Port Campbell Visitor Information Centre co-ordinator Mark Cuthell said the project activities aim to increase knowledge and appreciation of the region’s unique natural attractions.

“Residents will be able to borrow binoculars to look for whales, discover the different sand profiles of local beaches under a stereo microscope, check out our new smart-phone driven telescope and be among the first to trial a virtual reality dive into our Marine National Park,” he said.

“We will be operating the pop-up on Thursday, August 4 and Friday, August 5 from 10am – 4pm to road test activities and gather feedback."

“We’ll then refine the project and move it back to the Visitor Information Centre, seven days a week.”

The project and associated marketing campaign were made possible with a $20,000 Business and Traders Association grant from the State Government and co-ordinated by Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism.
