Popular event back for another year
THE Terang Harness Racing Club will host a trackside celebration of both the senior members of the community and club legends next week.

A day meeting at Dalvui Lane is scheduled for next Monday, May 18, which club president Chris O’Connor said would bring back a fan-favourite event from last year as a long-term addition to the club’s calendar.
“We are having a Senior’s Day and have invited seniors from around the district,” he said.
“We were overwhelmed with the response last year and this will be an ongoing event in coming years.
“It’s a great way of giving senior people an exciting day out while enjoying the spectacle of harness racing and catching up with mates.
“The dining room is now almost full but we will have a large offering in the silks room canteen.”
The day will also provide an opportunity to pay tribute to those who have made a significant difference to the sport in Terang through their tireless efforts.
“It is also a Memorial Day with race names recognising individuals and families that have made large voluntary contributions to harness racing at Dalvui Raceway,” Mr O’Connor said.
“Also, some individuals who have raced great horses and helped put Terang harness on the map are being honoured.
“It’s appropriate that many of the audience will have known the club heroes being celebrated.
“The main race is the Basil Brock Handicap and the Brock family have supported the race and will present a rug for the occasion.
“The club is expecting a strong card with eight races and it should start at around 1pm.”
