Popular soup program to return

CAMPERDOWN and District Community House is inviting residents feeling the winter chill in the air to come along for the return of their annual Winter Warmer program.

The program is a monthly lunch held over winter, providing a bowl of soup and a sandwich on the first Thursday of each month at the 6 Gunner Street address.

Community House coordinator Emily Mercery said the lunch will be starting up again next week (Thursday, June 4) with pumpkin soup and toast on the menu.

“Bookings are essential for catering purposes, so it’ll be appreciated if people can call us on 5593 1403,” she said.

“All are welcome.

“It’s an opportunity to get together and warm ourselves with conversation, friendship and soup.

“The soup is cooked by our volunteer chef donating their time every month.”

The lunch will run from 12noon-2pm, with entry costing a gold coin donation.

Sessions will also be held on Thursday, July 2 and Thursday, August 6.
