Power looks for on-court consistency

KOLORA Noorat netballers will work to get the small details right after a rough outing on the court against Merrivale over the weekend.
The Power’s A grade side fell to the Tigers in an 81-23 loss and remain winless for the season to date.
Coach Carolyn Carlin said she was proud of the players’ dedication to maintain their effort in the lopsided affair as the young side builds towards a brighter future.
Moving forward she wants to see the players find their game and maintain a rhythm.
“We just have to try and control the things we can control in our game,” she said.
“Our passing let us down a bit on the weekend, but these are the things we can control."
“We’ve just got to try and get better in eliminating mistakes and errors on our side, which will enhance our game going forward.”
Carlin said she could see the players growing more comfortable as the game progressed, showing a glimpse of the talent the side possesses.
“Our first quarters have been a bit slow and we haven’t jumped out early, which I felt Saturday was a prime example of that,” she said.
“It was about 23-4 at one stage, and when you let a team get a significant lead like that it’s hard to try and turn the game around."
“Full credit to the girls for playing out the four quarters and showing glimpses."
“The third quarter was a really good quarter but we let things go a little bit and then we have to try and pick ourselves back up, so we just need a little more consistency through the four quarters.”
The Power A grade side remains winless for the year, but will look to change its fortunes against the also-winless Russells Creek on the weekend.
Carlin said the nature of two younger, growing teams will make for a good opportunity for each team.
“It’s another new team, which I think is the biggest thing the last two years with COVID where we’ve seen teams undergo a lot of change,” she said.
“When you’re coming up against teams there used to be a lot more familiarity, but with Russells Creek we don’t know much."
“They’ve had some changes like we’ve had, so it’ll be another full on challenge for us."
“We just have to make sure we’re ready and firing in the first quarter, and then build on that.”
