Prelim awaits young Swans

CARAMUT’S under 16.5 footballers have had a 39 point loss to Glenthompson/Dunkeld in their second semi-final clash at Willaura.


Glenthompson/Dunkeld got out to a strong start with a 3.4.22 to no score first quarter and led all day in their 7.10.52 to 2.1.13 win.

Best for Caramut in the loss were Bailey Moloney, Carl Lehmann, Spurs Lynch, Samual O'Sullivan, Toby Pearse and James Heazlewood.

Lynch and Bodie Jubb kicked a goal each for the Swans.

Caramut will play Tatyoon in this week’s preliminary final at Mininera’s Conna Wilson Reserve for a spot in the grand final.

In the C grade netball first semi-final, the Ararat Eagles ended Caramut’s season with a 27-26 win.

Rachel Hassett led the scoring for the Swans with 19 goals and was named best alongside Edie Douglas.

Caramut’s 15 and under netballers are through to the preliminary final after a 29-21 first semi-final win over Tatyoon on Sunday.

Grace O’Sullivan and Yolie O’Sullivan were best for the Swans, with Yolie scoring 18 goals.

On Tuesday night,Yolie finished runner-up in the Mininera District Netball Association under 15 league best and fairest award.

O’Sullivan, who also plays senior netball for Caramut, shot 242 goals for the home and away season for the under 15 Swans.

In the 13 and under netball second semi-final on Saturday, Caramut registered a 26-22 win over Glenthompson/Dunkeld to advance straight through to the grand final.

Payson Walker and Alex Lehmann shot 13 goals each for the Swans.
