Currently sitting in sixth position on the Warrnambool Moyne Association ladder, the Cats sit 10 points behind the fourth-placed Northern Raiders.

Last weekend’s two-day match saw the Cats at home to West Warrnambool.

In warm conditions on Saturday, they were sent to the field after West won the toss and elected to bat.

By the 39th over, the visitors were restricted to 10/79 in their first innings with Mortlake captain Todd Lamont taking 3/16 from nine overs.

Other wickets fell for Hamish Hobbs 2/8, Clinton Baker 2/13 and Kalhan Sineth 2/20.

At the crease, Mortlake reached 10/122 in the 53rd over with middle order batsman Jack Lehman the top scorer on 60 from 142 deliveries, which included five boundaries and a six.

West Warrnambool showed improvement with the bat in their second innings, making 8/162 in 61 overs.

Best of the bowlers for the home side was Kalhan Sineth 4/29 from 17 overs.

Round 10 this weekend will see the Cats travel to Merrivale.

In division one championship, Mortlake currently sits fourth on the league ladder and will host the seventh-placed Hawkesdale this weekend.
