The side had to work hard against Glenthompson/Dunkeld to preserve their perfect, undefeated season.

The Rams started well, opening up an 8-2 lead at quarter time.

“With finishing undefeated on top, there was definitely more pressure to win the grand final,” Caramut coach Michelle Lehmann said.

“As coach I take responsibility for the first quarter score, the starting line-up didn’t work well.”

The Swans fought back in the second quarter, the scores level at 9-9 at half time.

“We made some quick changes at quarter time and then we were away.

“I’m just lucky our players are very talented and have a positive mindset.”

Caramut played their best in the third quarter, scoring nine goals to four to lead by five goals at the last change.

The Swans held on in the last to record a 22-19 victory and the title of premiers and champions.

Payson Walker and Alex Lehmann both scored 11 goals for Caramut in the win.

Walker came into the game with an ankle injury, Lehmann praising her goal shooter’s resilience.

“We would have preferred not to play her, but she came on at quarter time and really performed well.

“Alex played goal attack, she led by example and was really positive.”

Centre Grace O’Sullivan was named best on court for her game.

“Grace played a very good mid court game getting several intercepts, she was very good both in defence and attack.”

Lehmann also was impressed with the game of goal keeper Ruby Russell.

“Ruby played really well, she was consistent all day and did a great job in shutting down their goal shooter.”

The Swans celebrated back at their clubrooms with pizza and karaoke.

“It was a great night with the under 16 footballers there as well despite their loss.”
