Premiership for Knights

COBDEN’S under 13 cricketers have won the South West Cricket Association’s 2024/25 premiership flag after defeating Heytesbury Princetown.

Last Friday night’s grand final match was played at the Pomborneit Recreation Reserve.

The Knights won the toss and elected to bat.

Openers Clement Walsh and Michael Benallack both retired on 20 runs, with Walsh twice hitting the boundary and sending one over for six, while Benallack’s innings included three boundaries.

Jack Couch also retired on 20 (including four boundaries), while Ryan Bailey contributed 23 runs from 12 deliveries (four boundaries) and Rhys Darcy was unbeaten on 21 (with three boundaries).

After 24 overs, the Knights finished the day on 3/143.

Best of the bowlers for the Storm were Annabel Doolan 1/9, Tyler Walters 1/13 and Dallas Blain 1/14.

In reply, the Storm reached 5/113 in 24 overs.

Best with the bat were William Spokes with 23 retired (two fours and one six), while Jed Watson and Riley Stephens both retired on 20 and Dallas Blain 21.

Knights’ bowlers Michael Benallack, Charlie Dunn, Clement Walsh, Quinn Pekin and Riley Davis took one wicket each.
