Premiership for Pelicans
BOOKAAR has taken out the division two South West Cricket 2023/24 premiership.
The Pelicans won the toss and elected to bat but opener Timothy Lucas was dismissed early after making a quick-fired five runs from eight deliveries.
Middle order batsman Jesse Horan had an impact on the scoreboard with 46 from 52 deliveries in an innings that included six boundaries.
He was well-supported by team-mates Stephen Fitzgerald (32), Brian Cunningham (25) and Jonnie Hooper who was unbeaten on 19.
The Pelicans finished the 40 overs at 9/182 with Pomborneit’s Charles Voutier the best of their bowlers with figures of 4/26 from four overs.
In reply, the Bulls made 10/127 in the 35th over, with Luke Reynolds the best of the batters with 31 runs, followed by Benjamin Whytcross with 20.
For the Pelicans, Nick Jones finished the day with figures of 4/22 from eight overs while Paddy Baker was effective with 3/21.
Wickets also fell for Paddy Hassett 1/26 and Brian Cunningham 1/24.
