TWISTERS have won the first Mortlake volleyball pennant for 2023.

The season came to a close when Twisters met Chargers in the grand final last week.

Twisters were ladder leaders for most of the pennant and were the favourites to win.

Chargers put them to the test, winning the first set before Twisters regrouped in the second to level the match.

They went on to win the following two sets, defeating Chargers three sets to one.

Presentations to the premiers and runners-up followed, along with the best and fairest count.

In a closely contested count, Megan Stevens (in what was her first Mortlake pennant in over 20 years) won the women’s count on 13 votes while runner-up was Chiarra Taylor on 12 and Noni Harris Wallace was third with eight.

Jarrod Rethus won the men’s with 10 votes, while the runner-up was shared between John Tanner and Bray Wright on eight, with Deca Bradbury third on six votes.
