Preps celebrate 100 days
FOUNDATION students at Camperdown and Derrinallum Colleges celebrated a special learning milestone recently.

FOUNDATION students at Camperdown and Derrinallum Colleges celebrated a special learning milestone recently.
The students celebrated 100 days of school, with Camperdown College marking the day on August 4 and Derrinallum College celebrating on August 10.
For Camperdown College, the celebrations included an out-of-uniform day where students dressed in bright colours to show they were “100 days brighter”.
The day was filled with 100-themed activities, including a certificate ceremony for families and special friends and a party with food, music, dancing and decorations.
Camperdown College Prep teachers Kim Robertson and Jacinta Tolland said they, along with principal Xavier Davis, were proud of the knowledge and skills the students had gained, and the “wonderful” impact they have on the school community.
“The festivities continued with a visit from the Preps’ year 12 and year six buddies which saw a special gift organised by our Year 12 students presented to each student,” they said.
“It was a fun-filled catch-up with students having thoroughly enjoyed spending time with their buddies creating a very special crown that they proudly wore to assembly.
“So much fun was compacted into one special day that was well and truly earned by our youngest students.”
Meanwhile, Derrinallum College Foundation students looked a little older than normal.
Students, along with some teachers, dressed up as elderly people to celebrate being “100 days smarter”.
Students marked down the days until the milestone beforehand, and got involved in activities such as making paper glasses to commemorate the event.
Derrinallum P-12 College Foundation/year one teacher Chloe O’Brien said the school recognised the milestone for the students.
“We had them dress up as elderly people, so they would feel appreciated, and we can recognize their growth that they’ve had in the classroom,” she said.
“It’s been really good, and I think the boys enjoyed it and we had a few teachers get around it which was great.”
