TERANG and District Probus Club had an increased attendance at its monthly meeting where four new members were inducted: Bernie O’Keeffe, Peter Heffernan and Tony and Annette Heffernan.
Guest speaker was Christina de Water who gave an interesting account of her life’s journey which culminated in her holding an exhibition at Terang Court House. It was titled Postcards from Terang and featured photos of people, events, activities and scenery ofthe district.
Christina was born in Holland and came to Australia when her father came to work with Royal Dutch Shell Oil Company in Geelong.
After studying photography Christina worked nationally and internationally in a variety of jobs such as fashion, traveland advertising.
The postcards and photos are a real snapshot of life in Terang – its many personalities and great depiction of how this town operates. It is a most interesting exhibition not to be missed.
She came to Terang as an Artist in Residence under the plan instigated by Les Cameron from the Commercial Hotel.
Joan Cain thanked Christina for her comprehensive coverage of Terang.
Members have a trip proposed to the Elvis Presley Exhibition in Bendigo as well as trips to Acciona Wind Farm and Timboon strawberry farm.
New members are most welcome and hopefully we can retain our membership of over80 people.
Next meeting is on May 2 at 10am.
