Program opens to boost hospitality industry
CORANGAMITE Shire businesses and residents can access free Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training next month as part of efforts to support local workforce needs and strengthen the hospitality sector.
Corangamite Shire Council is offering the one-day course in Camperdown on Thursday, August 27.
Economy and prosperity acting manager Bec Reedman said the program would be vital to residents wanting to enter the hospitality industry.
“Whether you’re looking to update your qualifications, start a career in hospitality or build your knowledge of responsible alcohol service, this course provides a practical and accessible pathway,” she said.
“It could be a stepping stone to a career in hospitality and it’s also valuable for volunteers and community members involved with local sporting clubs and other organisations where alcohol is served.
“Participants will receive an approved RSA certificate, a qualification commonly required for employment in hospitality and for volunteering with organisations that serve alcohol.”
The certificate is accredited by Liquor Control Victoria.
Attendees will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) which can easily be created at usi.gov.au.
Workbooks will be provided to participants, in addition to tea and coffee and light catering.
Ms Reedman encouraged those interested in completing their RSA to register as soon as possible due to places being limited.
“We’ve run similar sessions before and demand was very strong, so I encourage anyone interested to secure their place by registering early,” she said.
The program will run on Thursday, August 27 from 9am−4pm at the Killara Centre in Camperdown at 210-212 Manifold Street.
Registrations can be made online at https://events.humanitix.com/rsa-business-corangamite.
