Quilt Show ready for its return
A CELEBRATION of creativity and craftsmanship will be on display when the Terang Quilt Show makes its return this weekend.
The ladies behind the Terang Quilters Fellowship have been hard at work behind the scenes in preparation for the biennial show, with more than 80 quilts expected to adorn the walls of the Terang Presbyterian Hall.
Terang Quilters Fellowship coordinator Margaret McIntosh said members had created some wonderful work, following on from the long-standing tradition of undertaking various challenges to produce their designs.
“We’ve got a lot more quilts the girls have made – we’ll have around 80 quilts on display this year,” she said.
“There have been some interesting challenges the girls have done.
“We had to do recycled, reused and repurposed quilts – and we’ve got lots of other pieces.
“The main thing we’ve done is probably our tea towel quilts; a girl bought a whole bunch of lovely tea towels, so we’ve made quilts out of those.”
Mrs McIntosh said the fellowship, comprised of a dozen members, were eagerly anticipating another successful year.
“We’ve been going for 36 years now, and we’ve been doing quilt shows every two years with the exception of during the COVID-19 pandemic,” she said.
“It took us a year or two before having our first quilt show so this will be the 15th or 16th we’ve held.
“It’s been going for a bit and we have a lot of fun.
“I think it’s as much fun for us as everybody else.”
The Terang Quilt Show will return this weekend on Saturday, March 1 from 10am-5pm at the Terang Presbyterian Hall.
Admission is $5 and refreshments will be available.
