Races provide a much-needed day off
PERFECT weather greeted racegoers for the highly-anticipated Farmers Day Out races in Terang over the weekend.

Hundreds flocked to the track for a day of racing which aims to encourage farmers to give themselves a much-deserved day off.
The day featured a range of agricultural displays, speakers and businesses available to provide information.
Among the highlights of the day was the charity auction, which this year saw the auction a five per cent share in a Symon Wilde-trained two-year-old filly from Overshare and Jungle Dance.
The auction accompanied a moving discussion with Warrnambool-based racing identity Karen Wilde, who shared her story of battling multiple Myeloma - a type of blood cancer which develops from plasma cells in the bone marrow.
All proceeds of the auction will be donated to Myeloma Australia.
Terang and District Racing Club president Shane Scally said all involved cherished the opportunity to raise funds for a good cause.
“Karen was one of the guest speakers who spoke about her Myeloma diagnosis, which was very informative,” he said.
“The auction that we ran to raise money for Myeloma Australia was very successful.
“The horse was auction for $5100, which was purchased by a syndicate of local ladies.
“They were all local in the syndicate of ten so it all worked out very well.
“It was great because a lot of people probably aren’t familiar with the Myeloma.”
