COACHES will replace trains on part of the Geelong and Warrnambool lines over 12 days in November, as upgrade works take place.
For passengers on the Geelong Line, coaches will replace all trains between Waurn Ponds and Geelong from the first service on Wednesday, November 8 to the last service on Sunday, November 19.
The weekday 5.56am Geelong to Southern Cross and 4.31pm Southern Cross to Geelong services will also be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.
Public Transport Victoria (PTV) encourages passengers to check the PTV website or mobile app before travelling as coaches to Geelong will depart Waurn Ponds, Marshall and South Geelong stations up to 40 minutes earlier than the usual train times.
For those on the Warrnambool Line, coaches will replace all trains between Warrnambool and Geelong during this period.
On weekdays, passengers will board Geelong Line trains between Geelong and Southern Cross, however trains may not connect directly with replacement coaches.
Coaches to Geelong will depart Warrnambool Line stations up to 30 minutes earlier than usual train times.
The weekend 7.40am Warrnambool to Southern Cross and 7pm Southern Cross to Warrnambool services will also be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.
PTV recommends downloading the temporary coach timetables from the PTV or V/Line websites and allowing an extra 40 minutes for the journey by coach.
On the Warrnambool Line, upgrades to train detection technology will continue at level crossings in Colac, Winchelsea, Camperdown, Terang and Warrnambool as part of works to enable VLocity trains to run to and from Warrnambool for the first time.
This will include trenching, drainage and underboring, installing boom mast foundations, cable hauling, location box installation and maintenance access track construction.
The South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication project will deliver more frequent and reliable services through the removal of two level crossings and the duplication of around eight kilometres of track as well as delivering upgraded stations at South Geelong and Marshall.
Passengers are encouraged to visit ptv.vic.gov.au/disruptions for more information and to plan their journey.
