Rain abundant over the region
ABOVE average rainfall for a second consecutive month has brought a flush of green in a welcomed reprieve for the region’s farmers.

Rain gauges were overflowing in Terang as a whopping 99.6mm was recorded through the month.
The figure marks a significant increase above the long-term average of just 60.9mm.
The highest daily rainfall was recorded on November 11 when 18mm hit the ground, as one of three days during the month in which more than 15mm of rain was recorded to have fallen over 24 hours.
The result through November stood in stark contrast to the same period in the previous year, with just 45mm recorded to have hit the ground in November 2024.
The result brings Terang’s rainfall to-date to 590.8mm for the year.
Mortlake, meanwhile, experienced a similar surge in its result with rainfall well above the long-term average.
A total of 72.4mm of rain was recorded to have fallen over the township throughout November – while the monthly long-term average is just 49.5mm.
The highest daily rainfall was recorded early in the month when 14.8mm fell on November 3.
The result was a significant increase on the same period in 2024 when 37.8mm was recorded last November.
The result brings the total rainfall over Mortlake so far in 2025 to 459.6mm.
