The rainfall over Mortlake remained consistent with the monthly long-term average, with a total of 31.8mm hitting the ground throughout March.

The figure marks a 0.8mm increase over the long-term average, which was hit thanks to three days of moderate rain throughout the month.

The highest tally recorded over a 24-hour period fell on March 27 when 10.4mm was recorded to hit the ground.

The figure bolstered the monthly tally against the 6.6mm recorded on March 17 and the 7.2mm which hit the ground on March 2.

It also marked the second consecutive month the long-term monthly average was surpassed over Mortlake, the first time since December 2023-January 2024.

The figure also marked a strong increase over the previous year, with just 14mm hitting the ground in March 2024.

Meanwhile in Terang, the total rainfall result for March fell below the long-term average.

The monthly total of 37.2mm fell below the long-term March average of 47.7mm in large part thanks to rain only being recorded on five days of the month – leaving the remaining 26 days relatively dry.

The highest daily rainfall result was recorded on March 27 when 15mm was recorded to have hit the ground.

Similar to the Mortlake result, four of the five days in which rain was recorded saw at least 6.6mm hitting the ground, which helped push the monthly tally towards a result more consistent with the long-term average.

While the result was below the long-term average, it was a significant increase over the previous year when just 17.4mm was recorded to have hit the ground.
