Batting first, the Lakers were dismissed for 215 in the 40th over.

“We were happy with our score on the board,” Camperdown captain Steve Fisher said.

“But it was disappointing to be bowled out with 10 overs still to bat; we set ourselves for a really big score and would have got there had we batted out our overs.”

Opener Jye McLaughlin continued his strong start to the season, hitting 38 from 25 balls with four fours and two sixes.

“Jye has had a really good time of it since the second half of last season.

“He’s very good at putting away the bad ball and is playing aggressively without taking many risks.”

Fisher top scored with 62 from 58 balls, including three fours and two sixes, while Noah Riches made 32 from 33 balls.

“Noah is timing the ball well and playing really nice cricket shots.”

In reply, Woorndoo reached 3/61 in the 15th over before the rain set in.

James O'Neil took all three wickets to fall, finishing with 3/34 from 7.5 overs.

“We didn’t bowl as well as we’d have liked at the start.

“Then we got their two key batsmen out and were right on top, it was unfortunate the rain came when it did.”

Despite not having a win, Fisher is positive about the way his team has begun.

“Making over 200 two weeks in a row has been great, it’s probably our best start to a season for a number of years.”

This week the Lakers play City United at the Elliminyt Recreation Reserve.

In division three, Camperdown lost to Cobden in a Duckworth/Lewis decided result.

The Lakers bowled the Knights out in the 40th over for 122 at Camperdown number two.

Darren Frith with 4/28 and Maddison Fisher with 3/17 were Camperdown’s best with the ball.

The Lakers were 2/49 from 20 overs when rain halted play, giving Cobden a 73 run win.

This week the division one Lakers host Pomborneit Gold at SA Wright Oval.

Camperdown’s under 13 team commences its season on Monday night against Boorcan at Camperdown number two.
