Rain gauges remain low
RAIN remained low across the region, with results falling far below the long-term monthly average.

In Terang just 17.6mm of rain was recorded to have fallen during April, less than one-third of the 62.6mm long-term average result.
The highest daily rainfall was recorded on April 5, with just 3.4mm of rain hitting the ground.
The result was well down on last year, when the skies opened as 72.2mm fell in April 2024 – despite what had then been a dry start to the year.
The April result brings Terang’s rainfall to-date through 2025 to just 61.2mm, less than one-third of the long-term average of 187.1mm over the same period.
Meanwhile in Mortlake, only 11mm of rain was recorded to have hit the ground throughout April.
The result was almost a quarter of the long-term average result for the month of 43.6mm.
The highest daily rainfall recorded over Mortlake during the month was experienced on April 7 when 4.2mm hit the ground.
The total monthly rainfall did not bring the reprieve experienced in April 2024, when 63.4mm fell.
The result through 2025 to date brings the annual rainfall total for Mortlake to 55.8mm, well below the long-term average over the same period of 141.2mm.
