Rainfall low through May
TERANG and Mortlake experienced low rainfall throughout May, concluding a drier-than-usual autumn.

Through May there was just 16.2mm of rainfall recorded over Terang, with the highest daily rainfall recorded on May 19 with just 4.6mm hitting the ground.
The tally falls well below the long-term average rainfall for the month of 74.4mm, and well below the 77.6mm recorded during the same month in 2023.
Through autumn Terang experienced 95.8mm of rainfall, far below the 185.5mm long-term average over the season.
The annual rainfall tally for Terang stands at 170mm over the first five months of the year.
Meanwhile in Mortlake, just 20.8mm of rainfall was recorded throughout May - well below the long-term average of 56.3mm.
The highest daily rainfall was recorded on May 10, with 8.8mm hitting the ground.
The figure was one third of the result over the same month last year, when 62.8mm of rain fell over Mortlake.
The result brings the total rainfall for Mortlake during autumn to 87.8mm, below the long-term average of 132.5mm over the same period.
The total rainfall for Mortlake for 2024 to date stands at 143.6mm.
