MACHINES of days gone past will be on display in Cobden this weekend.
Vintage lovers will be in seventh heaven when the South Western District Restoration Group opens its gates for the annual group rally over two jam-packed days.
The annual group rally will be held on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13 with hundreds of people expected to flock to the Grayland Street location from across the country as a variety of historical artefacts and displays go on show.
The 46th annual rally is shaping up to be a busy one, according to group secretary John Brown.
“There’s been a lot of work going on, the grounds are almost completely tidied up,”he said.
“Some of the tractors are lined up, ready to display. It’s coming along well.”
Attendees will be in for a treat, with about six new sheds ready to be on display this weekend.
A major drawcard for the weekend will be the display of two of the largest portable Robey steam engine in Australia which were sourced from the tin mining area in northern New South Wales.
Displays over the weekend will include shed displays which feature a variety of paraphernalia, steam engines of all sizes and model boats.
Various pieces of history will be up for sale at the annual action including Ferguson attachments and various implements.
The auction always proves popular and starts at 11am.
Mr Brown said the vintage tractor pull would be on again.
“All the tractor pull enthusiasts are looking forward to it,” he said.
The weekend is fully catered.
Entry fee for each day is $10 for an adult and 16 years and under are admitted free. All money raised on the day goes to the South Western District Restoration Group.
Gates are open 10am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday.
