Last weekend saw the mixed pairs’ second semi-final and final played over two days.

In the second semi-final on Saturday, Harmony and Justin Rasmussen won their way to the grand final after defeating Val and Leo Smith.

The Rasmussen’s faced Dwayne Dolling and Jacinta Marney in the grand final.

The players decided to play the final a week earlier as this suited all parties better.

Despite a half hour rain delay last Sunday, the grand final was played.

Dwayne and Jacinta got off to a great start, scoring five shots in the first three ends of the 15-end match.

Harmony and Justin entered the game on the next end with a single, and then added five more shots in ends five and six to lead by one shot.

Not to be outdone, Dwayne and Jacinta then scored a pair of singles on the next two ends to take the lead by one shot by the half- way mark.

Team Rasmussen fought back with a double and a single on ends nine and 10 to take a two shot lead with five ends to go.

Dwayne and Jacinta kept fighting hard and their reward was two singles on the next two ends to level the score up at nine-all with three ends to play.

Weather then forced the players to take a short 10 minute break due to a passing shower.

Once the puddles had cleared off the green, the game recommenced with the end in progress replayed due to the rain delay.

Harmony and Justin then broke the deadlock with a double on the 13th end, with two ends to play.

Dwayne and Jacinta kept chipping away, with a single on the next end.

On the last end they managed to also secure a single to level the score at 11-all after the allotted 15 ends.

Dwayne then called the coin toss and it went against them, with Harmony and Justin taking the mat.

A very tense end was played and in the end congratulations to the 2024 Club Mixed Pairs Champions Harmony and Justin Rasmussen.

Well played to the runners-up Dwayne Dolling and Jacinta Marney.

Despite the weather doing its best to stop it from happening, the match was played at a high level, with no quarter given from either side.

The next bowls day on the calendar will be the Les Risk Day this Sunday, April 7 from 1pm.

The cost is $5 to play and members are to wear uniform.

Afternoon tea will be supplied. Everyone is welcome (including new bowlers) to go along and play.

The signup sheet will be in the box next to the main entrance or entries to Dianne Robertson on 0408 559 256.

Autumn social bowls is now here.

Have a roll on Thursday afternoons at 1pm before the weather starts getting foul.
